video inspiration

There are two frames in this video that I wish to include in my own promotion. The first being when the artist is looking out of the window whilst on a train and when there is a city backdrop. I believe that having diverse clips will make my music promotion video more interesting, thus keeping my viewers captivated. I dislike how this video is black and white throughout as I think that it's rather bland and do not think that my target auidence, female teenagers, will stay captivated as popular music video's such as 'Primadonna' have an array of lighting to make the video interesting. Therefore I am going to experiment by using an array of diverse lighting and editing. I love the artists appearence in this video, the simple black dress suggests a rather laid back attitude apposed to videos where popular singers wear an array of designer outfits. I am going to take the same approach when deciding what outfit my artist will wear as I believe that the teenage girls will be able to relate; given that they will wear similar clothing. I believe that the artists heavy makeup and wild hair suggests that she is using a rebellious persona. When styling my artist I also want her to wearing heavy eye makeup as I want her persona to be apparent, that she is not the idealistic suburban teenager.
I will use a similar frame

I wish to use this particular frame as it definitely fits in with the theme of my chosen song as teenage girls often use public transport whilst thinking about events concerning their lives. Thus, I believe that my target audience will be able to relate to this particular scene.

I like the framing of this video as I think that the location definitely gives the frame interesting visual impact which has proven to me how important location choice is.

Although the content of the lyrics in this song are  mature, "Maybe if you let me be your lover", and depict a broken relationship I believe that the park scene was rather symbolic. I think that having the artist simply swinging reminds the auidence that she is still young, this makes her relatable to her target auidence of teenager girls as they either go to this location or have just stopped. I too will use a park in my own music video as the lyrics from the song 'Teen idle' reflect on what a more older woman wished she had done as a teenager. Therefore, I believe that putting her in a youthful surroundings will emphasise the video's purpose and theme.

I believe that incorporating fashion related props such as: shoes, makeup and clothes will interest my target audience of teenage girls; an aspect I will consider when finalising what props to use.
Even though I like the blur editing in this video I personally think that there is too much of it. In order to avoid ruining my own promotion video I am going to bring up the topic of editing when gathering audience feedback. Another minor aspect of the video I dislike is the tap water, I believe that it appears out of place and irrelevant.

I find the style of editing used in this video interesting because it is as if the lighting reflects the lyrics. When the artist is singing slow and downbeat black and white lighting is used which then changes to colour as the music begins to pick up. I personally think that the hand gesture the artist uses when the screen turns to colour is to represent that she lives in her own little world; the lyrics 'yeah i've been living in the state of dreaming' make me come to this conclusion.
Since I am using a Marina and the Diamonds video for my promotion I am going to take this take on lighting into consideration as the lyrics of 'Teen idle' frequently change from positive to negative.
